I am once again ruining my sleep schedule by doomscrolling (it's summer though so I have an excuse), so I thought I'd do this since I saw it on another one of my favorite writers' Dreamwidth blogs.

Obviously I only have one fic up but I have many many many thoughts about writing. I'm currently thinking of that one tweet format that's like:

2020: dowoo 😫 markhyuck 😫

2021-2024: shipping real life people is so disgusting and odd 😧

2025: RINGTAET 😫 JJUNEKO 😫

Time is a circle. Somehow I have just as much of it in college as I did during 8th grade and the pandemic, or maybe I'm just a more dedicated fangirl now. I am happy to say that I now carefully analyze my pairings' dynamics instead of just inserting their names into a tropey story! More on that in a later question anyways. 2021 me would actually be mortified at how deeply into writing I am now but to be cringe is to be free so.

1. How did you come up with your writer name and what does it mean?
My original ao3 username was loonatiques because I made it in 2020 when I was a raging Orbit #ThankYouLOONA #ThankYouLoossemble. I then changed it to taetteuthan to match my Twitter username, but decided to change it to something more aesthetically pleasing when I decided to publish my first work. I chose trackten because backtoback, back2back, and track10 were already taken. The username has really grown on me and so has the song! This is where I flex that I saw it live :3

2. Which tools do you use for writing?
I used to use Google Docs but I switched to Ellipsus just a few days ago. I wish I didn't have to use GDocs at all after learning that they use your writing to train AI, but my entire academic career is on there… we will never be free. I also wrote most of my first fanfiction on paper (!!!) in a notebook that I still have in my closet before transcribing everything using text-to-voice.

3. How long have you been writing?
Since 2020, technically! But I started my current writer arc at the very beginning of April.

4. What was the first fanfic you wrote and published?
Oh boy… it was Jungwoo/Doyoung (NCT 127) and it was a cafe AU with maybe five chapters on Wattpad? I deleted it in 2023 (?) when I was doing a lot of Korean company auditions and I was paranoid that it could be traced as part of my social media presence. LOL!

5. Which fandom are you writing for the most right now?
I'll probably only ever write for BND. I told Shu a few days ago that I don't think I can ever write for &Team (especially not NCEJ) because their dynamics are so complex it makes me want to throw up. I am also not nearly as obsessed with a single member as I am with Han Taesan.

6. Do you plan your stories beforehand or go with the flow?
I always plan them beforehand. Not only do I create an outline (or multiple), I'll also plan out each section more meticulously. It's mostly in bullet points, but I'll write down a full-fledged line if I think of a good one and then go back and put everything into full sentences.

7. What was the latest fanfic you wrote?
well.

8. Which fandom have you written the most for?
also obvious

9. Favorite pairing(s) to write?
I don't have a favorite pairing to write (I don't have a strong favorite BND pairing in general), but I do love writing Han Taesan and psychoanalyzing him. Same with Myung Jaehyun. From my perspective, they're the members that have revealed the most about their emotional psyches and so they're easier to dig into.

10. Do you have fellow authors who inspire you?
SO MANY! Shoutout goes to Shu and her five million different pseuds and then Meta as well; these two were the first writers I befriended on this app and the ones I went to with my idea for revolving door when I first conceived it. On the &Team side, I absolutely love heartbvrn and soobun. Their works dig so deeply into the emotional vulnerability of the members (especially NCEJ) and they never fail to make me cry.

11. Which fanfic completely changed your brain chemistry
everything happens for a reason by heartbvrn. The layers, the emotions, the different universes—it made my parasocial obsession with Nichojoo even worse /pos. I can't even put into words what this fic makes me feel; it's such a deep emotion. I was also blown away by no blood, more blood by goregrief (RIIZE, Sungchan/Eunseok). The way they wrote Eunseok's descent into his mental state and Sungchan's helplessness really broke me.

12. Do you prefer bookmarks, kudos, or comments from readers?
Comments!! I love when people point out things they liked, and I love giving commentary back! I get sad sometimes comparing my fic's kudos to others, but I also have to remind myself that RingTaet is lowkey a nugu ship, and also if I sucked 76 dicks it would definitely seem like a lot. so.

13. How long does it take you to finish writing a fanfic?
Toooooo long. Writing is lowest on my tier of importance at most times and I don't really get into writing moods. If I'm close to finishing something, I will get an extra boost of energy. I like splitting my fics up into sections to work in more manageable chunks; for HTBAD for example, each section is a different story based on a different line in the poem, so I can work on each part separately instead of feeling constricted by chronology.

14. What's the longest fanfic you have written?
I don't think I'll get any longer than revolving door, though HTBAD might get close—it's currently at ~3,000 words with five (long) sections left to go.

15. Pick a WIP and tell us about it!
I just started a RingTaet PWP… key words: temporary long-distance, phone sex, praise kink, typical Han Taesan Stray Cat-isms. None of these words are in the Bible, but I'm not religious so

16. Do you enjoy writing AUs?
I like writing AUs because I can kind of build my own world whereas I'm a little more limited to real-life timelines and details with canon compliant fics, though I do try my hardest to bring in canon details into AUs. I think writing canon compliant is a valuable skill, especially for RPS.

17. What's your fanfiction pet peeve?
Unrealistic dialogue. Nobody speaks in those flowery, eloquent sentences unless you're from the 1700s. The characters should stutter, use slang, speak in sentence fragments, because that's what real-life dialogue is like.

18. Do you write in silence or listen to something? If yes, what?
Both! It depends on my mood.

19. Which POV do you prefer writing?
Third person, always.

20. What's your favorite genre to write?
Realistic fiction; same goes for real-life creative writing assignments.

21. Do you have a beta reader or do you die like a man?
I had Meta beta-read revolving door so if they want to do it again for my other WIPs…

22. Porn without plot or plot with some porn?
I admittedly love reading porn without plot but that's because most of the PWPs I read still have a complex thematic storyline. It's hard to write PWP without getting into the characters' relationship dynamics anyways. Personally I'm just bad at writing porn in general.

23. Weirdest tag you have used?
Honorifics as a Literary Device is definitely my favorite.

24. Favorite comment you have ever gotten from a reader?
All of them are lovely <3 I did enjoy one commenter saying that they related to Dongmin in revolving door as a med student LOL

25. What inspires you to keep writing and improving?
Reading other fanfiction! I'm constantly amazed at what comes out of other people's minds and it inspires me to think more deeply about what I want readers to get out of my silly little K-pop fanfiction. On this note as well, though, I wanted to talk about my thoughts on my own writing. Some of these authors write the most deep, profound sentences or simple phrases that still hold so much weight and I envy them. I feel like my writing is too flat or stilted at times. However, I think my writing style leans towards expressing the stream of consciousness of the character(s), and so it ends up reading like a thought/word dump. It isn't a bad thing and there are still sentences that I really love in my own works.

26. Bonus: my favorite lines that I've written!

"It’s his life, yet looking at Sanghyuk now in the center of the cypher circle makes him feel like he has to ascend to the heavens to get on his level."

"Dongmin’s eyes finally fall to his trophy and he furrows his eyebrows. He’s always been a silver guy; metallic rings adorn his ears, neck, and hands, glinting against his pale skin and reinforcing his whole mysterious emo persona thing. But as he stares himself down, features distorted and gray in the convex curve of the cup, he finds himself thinking he would look a hell of a lot better bathed in gold."

"Contrary to popular belief, Jaehyun does not like crying. It leaves a bitter taste in his mouth, even if it’s out of joy. It’s the taste of dirt on his face and a scraped knee after getting pushed on the playground, of being the youngest child with too much energy and nowhere to channel it. It’s the taste of rejected lyrics and corrected moves, pushing until he can’t tell whether the salt is from tears or sweat. It’s the taste of being too fragile, accusations of overreactions overpowering his sincerity."

Good night all… It's 4:45 AM…
